The Couples Program has several tiers - The International Couple, The Regional Couple, The District Couple and Chapter Couples.
The NH District encourages all Chapters to choose a Chapter Couple - a friendly couple with a positive attitude, who have shown dedication as volunteers to your Chapter, who attend and volunteer their time to your Chapter events and those of other Chapters, and perhaps District and Region.
GWRRA requires that the couple be one male and one female, and hold membership in GWRRA for the term of their tenure. The District Couple is also asked to take part in the Regional Couple of the Year selections. We have found that couples who have been in this program are frequently the people who hold leadership positions in the future.
As stated by the International COY Coordinators Verne & Verna Dudley," The Couple of the Year (COY) program is an exciting and fun way to recognize GWRRA couples for their commitment and dedication to the GWRRA. It is an honor to be bestowed, not a beauty pageant or popularity contest. What an excellent opportunity it is to show our appreciation to our volunteers for their hard work!
A big question about the program always is; What does the couple do?You can find answers to this in the COY Guidelines but you may also create the responsibilitesfor this job as a combined effort of the Chapter or District Director and the COY. These responsibilities are based on the needs of the Chapter/District and the abilities and interests of the couple. It is also based on your time constraints-don't burn yourself out! The COY should wear their vest with GWRRA patches at all events to show their support and interest in GWRRA.

The Chapter of the Year Award and Honorable Mention Awards were created to acknowledge the extraordinary efforts and performance of local chapter leaders and members. The growth and continued success of GWRRA is dependent on the thoughtful planning and implementation of important local initiatives.
All "charter paid" GWRRA chapters worldwide are eligible to participate in the 2010 GWRRA Chapter of the Year Award and Honorable Mention Awards, providing the qualifications have been met.
